AMS Centennial Fellowship American Mathematical Society. $80,000 to aid development of research career. All areas of mathematics. Faculty with Ph.D. for at least 3 yrs but not more than 12. December 1
Beckman Young Investigators Up to $750,000 over 4 yrs. Faculty in first 5 yrs of appointment, especially. if minimal external funding. For innovative research or invention of methods, instruments, and materials to open new avenues of science research: chem and life sciences, energy, nanoscience, imaging, materials, instrumentation, computation. October 1
Benjamin Franklin Medal Chemistry, Physics, Earth Science, Engineering. For discovery or body of work reflecting extraordinary insight, skill, or creativity. Nomination deadline open.
Grawemeyer Award for Ideas Improving World Order $200,000 for original, feasible ideas which could lead to a more just and peaceful world order. They may address a wide range of global concerns such as cooperation on environmental or other issues; international law; world politics; global economic issues; resolution of regional, ethnic, or racial conflicts; proliferation of destructive technologies; international relations; or other. Deadline early January.
Leibniz-DAAD Research Fellowships Postdoc grants in Germany, up to 12 months. PhD within past 2 yrs. Humanities, social science, education, math, life sciences, engineering. June 15
Powe Junior Faculty Awards $5,000 +$5,000 from home institution. Full-time assistant prof within 2 yrs of initial tenure-track appointment. Life science, physical science, math/computer science, engineering. Deadline Feb. 1
Anita Borg Early Career Award Early-career (~8 yrs) CSE female who has made significant contributions to research and to the profession, esp. in outreach to women. Nomination deadline February.
DOE Dept. of Energy $200,000 cash award for early-career faculty advancing computing research in novel directions, likely to become thought leaders in the field. Each university may nominate one. Nom deadline early November
National Academy Awards  National Academy of Sciences. Numerous rotating awards in physical, biological, & social sciences; list below is not comprehensive. See website for which awards will be presented this year. Deadline Oct 1 Award for Initiatives in Research — $15,000 to innovative scientists, age <35, citizen Award in Mathematics — $5,000 for excellence in published mathematical research Award for Industrial Application of Science — $25,000, industrial applications of significant science achievements.
National Academies, Research Associates Both Postdoc (within 5 yrs of PhD) and Senior Associates (5+ yrs from PhD), at participating labs. Deadlines vary.

Sloan Industry Studies Fellows  $45,000 for 2 yrs. Junior tenure-track faculty (no more than 6 yrs from Ph.D.), to contribute to understanding companies, product and labor markets, institutions and interactions via research grounded in direct observation. Encouraging academic – industry cooperation. Ph.D. in economics, management, engineering or related interdisciplinary field. Deadline Oct.
Sloan Research Fellows $45,000 for 2 yrs. Early-career (tenure-track, no more than 6 yrs from completion of Ph.D.). Chemistry, physics, math, computer science, neuroscience, computational biology, or related interdisciplinary field. Strong evidence of independent research accomplishments. Deadline September.
Supreme Court Fellows One-year fellowship with Supreme Court. Seeks diverse backgrounds, including systems research/analysis. Need multi-disciplinary training and experience, including familiarity with the judicial process; 2+ yrs professional experience; administrative ability. Deadline Nov.
Julian Cole Lectureship $1,000 For mathematical solutions of problems in physical science, biological science, or engineering.
ETS tests, Visiting Scholars $3,500 honorarium, travel, housing. Month of June at ETS; write/review test questions and equity. Math, Statistics, Psychometrics. Members of underrepresented groups. Deadline early December.
